Etude House Baking Powder Pore Cleansing Foam Review

After seeing Lee Hongki using this product in the korean Drama "You're beautiful", I totally fell for the commercial trap and had to buy it.
Yeah commercial like these can really fool me... As an advise don't be like that ;)

This is actually my first Cleansing foam from Etude House.
Back in Switzerland, I usually was using the Multi cleanser from Leneige and here in Tokyo I started to use a product from Shiseido.

This Cleansing foam totally reminds me of the Leneige Multicleanser. The consistency of the foam is the same. This product has also those little sand grains and the smelling is quite similar too.

Product description

(3 in 1 type) 170 ml

  • exfoliates skin
  • penetrates pores for throughout cleanse
  • removes makeup
  • removes sun protection
  • removes dead skin cell layers

How to use

A small amount is enough to cover up the whole face.
After removing your makeup (or with your makeup on), massage the foam on your wet skin. Massage it for 1 minute and then rinse it off with luke warm water.

Right after taking it out of the tube

After massaging it on the skin

The consistency after adding a bit of water

How it works

  • It makes my skin feel really clean
  • nice and fresh feeling
  • doesn't irritate my skin at all
  • less breakouts
  • less blackheads
  • lemon smell

I really like this product. I cleanses really well. It has also a really affordable price it's around 700 Yen (5.39 EUR)

Online it's available on Yesstyle.com or Sasa.com

PS.
There is also another Backing Powder Cleanser. The difference:
  •  The other one removes BB Cream
Since I already remove my makeup before cleansing my face, I feel that I don't need a cleanser, that removes BB Cream.

My Favorites: Skinfood Rice Wash-Off Mask Review

I like to exfoliate my skin 3 times a week. I usually use different products.
Since I have sensitive skin and gets irritated really fast, I have to be careful on my choice of product.

Until now I was really satisfied with the products from skinfood.
I also own the Black Sugar Wash-Off Mask. It is one of my favorite exfoliator. Compared to the Rice Mask, it's a bit more harsh. If you want to know more about it, here is the link to my review: click here

The rice wash-off mask is another one of my favorites.
It's available in every Skinfood shop or online on Yesstyle.com

This product is actually one of the bestselling product of Skinfood. Pricely it's also really affordable.

This product is something in between a mask and an exfoliator.

After washing your face, you massage it all over your face and let it stay for 10-15 minutes. After that you wash it off with luke warm water.

Description:
  • contains rice extract
  • moisturizing
  • brightening
  • softening
  • ground rice texture
  • smells nicely
  • contains 100 gr.

Benefit of rice:

  • makes skin really soft
  • minimizes pores
  • thightens skin

Unfortunately the packaging doesn't come with a spoon. Instead I received at the Skinfood shop separately a spoon to take out the product.

Don't use your finger to take it out, since your finger are always in touch with a lot of bacteria and you don't want them to end up on your face.

  • The consistency of this product is really light.

  • The ground rice feels really soft on the skin and it's really suitable for sensitive skin.

  • This product is not necessarely only for sensitive skin. It can be used with all skin types.

  • There is no need to apply too much product. A small amount is enough. I only massage it on my acne-prone parts of the face.

Everytime after using this mask, my skin feels like a baby skin. It's really soft and from time to time my skin looks brighter than before.

My Favorites: Skinfood Black Sugar Wash-Off Mask Review

I purchased this mask last week in Shinjuku Lumine Est at the Skinfood store. It's at the floor B1 in front of Etude House.

This product is first placed as the best selling skinfood products. I already own the rice mask and I really liked it.
Since the packaging doesn't contain a spoon to take out the product, the lady in the store was so nice to give me one. It's really disappointing, that it doesn't have one included, since on my opinion every product that comes in a container like this, should have a spoon included.

Application

After cleansing my face I massage the product in circle motions on my skin, especially on my acne prone skin. I leave it on for about 10 minutes, then I rinse it off with lukewarm water.
It exfoliates really good. My skin feels really clean and soft.
I can see how it opens my clogged pores to let the dirt out. I really like the feeling it leaves behind.

Afterwards I continue with my usual skin care routine.

It smells really fresh. I think it's lemon. The consistency is a bit harsh compared to the rice mask. I wouldn't apply it if you have sensitive skin.

It's a really great exfoliating mask. Leaves skin really fresh. It's definitely worth the money.

Collagen for your skin

Collagen supplements are a huge trend here in Japan.

Collagen is a protein present in every body. It's responsible for the body's structure.
It is responsible for the skin's strength and elasticity.
The production of collagen decreases as we get older, which is the reason why we get wrinkles and fine lines.

They come in different variation. The following are my favorites:

  • powder
  • gelée drinks
  • gelée desserts

The Meiji Amino Collagen is a bestseller on the online shop Sasa.com.
I purchased also the Shiseido Collagen, because this brand is one of the most famous japanese all over the world and I was curious on how it would be.

  • One spoon per day.

The powder can be consumed in different ways:
  • with your daily coffee
  • with your juice
  • with your yoghurt

I always eat one yoghurt a day with it.

As for the gelée supplements there is not really a rule on how many you should eat. I always try to eat one of these two per day.
They come in different flavours. Some of these gelée product don't come with Collagen. Before buying them check if in the ingredients Collagen is listed. (コラーゲン)

Gelée drinks
I'm not really a huge fan of these drinks. It feels kind of weird in the mouth. Basically the Shiseido drinks are the only one that I like to drink.

These product might not be available in Europe. It's also hard to find them online. I would suggest to buy the powder, which are available on mostly all asian online shop. Check out Sasa.com

Personal opinion

I feel that my skin as gotten much better, than back in Switzerland. My skin is more smoothe, I have less breakouts and it looks healthier.
I would say that it's definitely also because of the Collagen supplements.

How to remove Makeup (before Cleansing)

Removing your makeup before going to sleep is really important. Everyday we are exposed to so many bacteria, which are damaging for our skin. Going with a cleansed face to sleep helps you prevent future breakouts and keeps your skin healthy.

Instead of using a makeup remover, I always used a cleanser that removes also makeup. I read in a book, that makeup that wasn't properly removed, can cause fine lines and dullness.
Since then I started to remove my makeup separately.

I use two different products to remove my makeup. I remove first my eye makeup and afterwards my face makeup.

1. Eye Make up

I first remove my eye makeup. It's the part of the face where we have most of the makeup on.
I like to use an oil-based eye makeup remover with cotton pads.

Try to wipe with your cotton pad from your eyebrows on downwards.

I still couldn't find the perfect eye make up remover.

Right now I'm using the MISSHA Lip&Eye Makeup remover.

For so far it's ok. It's alcohol-free. It removes liquid eyeliner, pencil liner and eyeshadow. It has kind of a hard time to remove my Mascara. It takes a bit longer.

I purchased it in the Missha store.

2. Face Make up

When I'm finished with removing my eye makeup, I cleanse my entire face with a cleansing oil.
I massage the oil all over my face, also on my eye area. I massage it for about 1 minute and afterwards I rinse it off with luke warm water.

Etude House Eraser Show Cleansing serum

Before using cleansig oils, I tested this cleansing serum.
This serum is really light textured. It removes not completely all the makeup on your face. Compared to the cleansing oil, it doesn't last as long as them.

I personally prefer using a cleansing oil than this one.

This product is available in the Etude House stores.

Shiseido Perfect Oil

This is my first cleansing oil that I ever used. It is my absolute favorite one. I also wrote a post about it. Just check it out.

 http://jamila-aj.blogspot.jp/2013/07/shiseido-perfect-oil-review.html

Online it's available on yesstyle.com

Bioré Perfect Oil

Bioré is a product range that belongs to the japanese Kao Group.
It removes my makeup really quick and leaves a really nice feeling behind. It smells really good. I think it's grapefruit.

Online it's available on Sasa.com

It might be that this product is only available in the drugstores in Japan and not all over the world.

Traditional way to remove make up --> Olive Oil

If you don't want to spend money on buying make up remover, then I recommend using a product that basically everyone has at home.

Olive Oil

Olive oil has been used for skin care for many years. It doesn't only remove your make up, but it also moisturize your skin. Olive oil has a lot of benefitial properties for your skin. It can be used for all skin types.
Mixed together with castor oil it gives a perfect make up remover.

Removing make up with oil-based products? What about acne-prone skin? Doesn't it cause acne?

This is what I always though, when I saw oil-based face products.
Since I have acne prone skin, I always tried to avoid all products that contain oil.
After coming to Asia, I discovered that they had more oil-based products. Since asians are known for their flawless skin, I was kind of surprised.

I found out that there are some types of oils, that your skin actually needs. Not using any oil-based products can lead your skin to be too dry.

After starting to use oil-based products my skin didn't break out more. On the opposite side. I feel that I have less breakouts now.

Bourjois Color Boost Lip Crayon Review

The cosmetic brand Bourjois really got my attention. It really surprised me with their lipstick brands. They are really pigmented and stay on for a long time.
As I was passing by the beauty section in a shopping mall, I discovered those new lipsticks.

Color Boost Glossy Finish Lipstick

Revlon has them. Clinique has them and now even Bourjois has them. I wonder who's next... =)

As I saw them in the store, I was totally excited to try them out.

They come in 4 different color shades. The packaging is really cute and practical.
I absolutely love those crayon packagings.

Description

  • SPF 15
  • Waterproof color
  • 10 hour stay
  • comfort and hydration
  • bare lip sensation
  • moisturizing
  • good pigmentation
  • light and non-sticky texture

Price: 1365 Yen (10.51 EUR)

First impression

The moment I applied it on my lips, I fell in love with this product. It's really pigmented, it stays on for a really long time. It doesn't look cakey and it doesn't feel sticky. It feels really moisturizing and it gives a really nice shine to the lips.
I really like how it smells. The smell kind of reminds me to the Nivea cream. It's a really light smelling and you don't smell it, when it's on your lips.

The darkest color is definitely my favorite. It's in the shade 1 "Red Sunrise". It's such a nice red and perfect for summer.

My Favorites: Missha M Perfect Cover SPF 40/42 PA+++ Review

This BB Cream used to be my first BB Cream that I've ever tried. I basically fell in love with it.
It has been more then 2 years since I started to use it and still now it's one of the best BB Creams I've ever tried.
It is also the only BB Cream that I used up until the end.
It has a great coverage, it feels really light on the skin, it stays on the whole day and it blends in with the skin perfectly.

Perfect for Summertime

I never really had a special season to apply this product, since it can be used everyday. Recently I started to enjoy using this product in summer. Here in Japan the summer is really hot and humid. With this heat I sometimes feel like my face is melting away. It was really important for me to find a BB Cream that stays on the whole day, even with this heat.

This BB Cream is perfect for hot and humid summerdays. It has SPF 40 or 42. (In Japan it's 40 for whatever reason...) It stays on the whole day without looking cakey. Even if you are exposed the whole day to the sun. Even while tapping away the sweat or refreshing your face with water spray, it still stays on perfectly.
I really am grateful to have this BB Cream. It's definitely one of my summer essentials.

Product description:

  • Whitening
  • Anti-Wrinkle
  • UV Protection
  • Suitable for acne-prone skin
  • Even and natural looking coverage
  • Suitable for all skin types
  • It protects the skin and provides it with moisture.

The bottle contains 50gr. The price for one bottle is 2500 Yen. (19.50 EUR)

In Japan only 2 different shades are available.

No. 21 Light Beige (I use this shade in winter)
No. 23 Natural Beige ( I use this shade in summer)

On the asian websites Sasa and Yesstyle the have 3 different shades.

No. 21 Light Beige
No. 23 Natural Beige
No. 27 Honey Beige

In the US they have even more. check out the US website misshaus

No. 13 Milky Beige
No. 21 Light Beige
No. 23 Natural Beige
No. 27 Honey Beige
No. 31 Golden Beige

Packaging

Missha has some really great packagings. Most of their BB Creams comes with pumps. Which is for me really important. It helps me to get the right amount of product.

The right amount

I usually only need one pump of this BB Cream to cover up my entire face. It depends on how much you have to cover up. But I used to have really bad acne and my face was really often red. One pump was still enough to cover up everything. Less is more then enough. If you apply too much product, your face will only look cakey, what we want to avoid. So try to not apply too much.

Consistency

The consistency is not that fluid, compared to other BB Cream it's more on the thicker side. It's really easy to apply it with a brush. You can also use your finger. It blends in perfectly with your skin. It doesn't fell heavy on the skin.

What really got my attention about this product was the smelling. It smells amazingly good!!! It kind of reminds me a bit of Nivea, but it's slightly different. You don't smell it after applying it. So don't worry about it.

This is in the shade no. 23.
I don't take more than this amount to cover up my entire face. If you need more you can still add a bit. It's always better to start with less, since you can always add product.

At first it seems that the product is a bit lighter then the skin...

... but after blending in everything, it looks totally natural.

Left: with BB Cream; Right: Bare face
completely covered with BB Cream

You can order the asian version on the following websites.

http://www.sasa.com/SasaWeb/eng/product/viewProductDetail.jspa?itemno=104006902003

yesstyle.com just search on the website for Missha and filter it on the Bestseller. There you can find the different shades and they also have different packagings.

When I first saw this product, it totally reminded me of SK-II Essence. I was about to buy it, when suddenly the lady in the Missha store gave me 3 samples from that product.
